Neville Box
Author of Accounting VCE 7e Units 1&2 and 3&4
I have been teaching Accounting for over 40 years and had my first textbook published in 1992. I believe that it is an absolute privilege to be a teacher. I have worked in both the State system and in Catholic Education. The most important thing I have learned over the years is that relationships are the key to education. I pride myself on knowing my students and working with them to achieve their best possible results in the VCE to help create options for their future careers. In addition to teaching VCE Accounting, I have also been involved in the writing of several VCE Study Designs and have played a key role in the assessment of VCE Examinations over many years. In addition to these activities, I have also presented papers at numerous conferences in relation to the teaching of Accounting and keeping students engaged. I believe that Accounting is relevant to everyone and everything. Financial literacy is vital to all individuals and understanding the world of finance is a side benefit of studying VCE Accounting. Away from work I serve the community in my role as a Justice of the Peace. I was appointed to this role in 2001 and see it as a valuable contribution to the community. My sporting interests include a significant involvement with the Carlton Cricket Club. I am the current President of the Club, having previously been both Secretary and Treasurer in past years. At Carlton, we see our role as developing not just good cricketers, but good people as well. This is foundational to how I see my role as an educator, regardless of the context. That’s what keeps me going after all these years and why I am so passionate about what I do.
